What is the usual US probationary period for an employee?

Generally, whether there is a probationary period for a US employee depends entirely on the arrangement agreed upon between the employer and the employee.

However, often a probationary period is not necessary. Most US employees, work under the ‘at will’ doctrine. This means that the employer or employee is free to terminate employment at any time without notice, for any reason.
